Project Pro 4-T3 Stock Car

Thanks to my friend John Atwell for allowing me to copy his color scheme for my new car. It will be painted exactly the same, the only difference will that it will be a little smaller. So above is my motivation.

In November 2011, I took possession of the first piece of the puzzle, my new body resembling the Camaro SS. The first thing we did was assemble it on the shop floor so we could get an idea of what it would look like. All I can say is Wow, the lines a beautiful and its gong to make a great race car.

I temporarily mounted the body onto the stock Allison Legacy chassis (far right) to see what it would take and other than a few notches here and there plus new bumper brackets, it should not be that major of a project for those who have some handy experience and tools. My thought was to have one of the new bodies on a car so we could display it at the first race in 2012.

This exercise plus the thought of the new car details that had emerged changed my mind.

All of the research was done on my Allison Legacy Car

The next step is prepare to build this new car. I have decided to use my Allison Legacy car as a donor to build my new P4T3 car. Jay will have a new car built and to save time and money, I decided to "donate" my car as a donor for the build which will give us a benchmark for the cost delta of such a project, and I think it will be a faster build as a lot of the small items already fabricated. All I have to do is transfer them from one chassis to the next! Since there will be a new front suspension, I may have to fabricate new brake lines etc. Time will tell.

01-22-2012    The waiting game is really a strange feeling when you are charged up and ready to build a car! In this down time, I have slowly been ordering in new and replacement parts so that when the build begins in earnest, I will have everything I need. I learned this week that the chassis kit to convert my Legacy car is two to three weeks out. I have purchased the new 8 gallon fuel cell, fuel filter/regulator, 3" wheel studs, fire suppression system, all new hiem joints for the suspension and identified all of the AN adaptor fittings  so that we can convert the fuel pump and filter to -6 hose and hose ends at the fuel tank and the engine fuel rail.
